I can’t get enough of the Poetics app this summer, even at home with my own kiddos! We did the parts-of-speech activity today (the one you see with the yellow background in this video), and then I remembered that I hadn’t posted this tutorial here yet. Take a look, and let me know if you think of other ways to use it in your class!

This is the best new thing I’ve learned so far today! Love add-ons and this one works like a charm!
#6secondvocab was a success!
#6secondvocab, a.k.a. Vine Vocab, was a huge hit in my classes last week! I had been accumulating some ideas for how to use Vine in the classroom all summer and was just waiting for the perfect opportunity!
I was inspired by #6secondscience that I kept seeing in @2footgiraffe’s tweets, and so the idea for Vine Vocab was born! I will post a few more of my students videos in the next couple of days! Let me know if you try out Vine Vocab in your classroom!
Rewordify is one of the most exciting web tools I’ve discovered this summer! I can’t wait for students and teachers at my school to check it out! Watch my tutorial to see exactly how it works, though the website itself is super user-friendly with lots of teacher tools available. (One amazing feature that I forgot to mention is that you can basically read simplified versions of lots of classic texts right from the site. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for that option.)
instaGrok is one of my favorite new web tools for brainstorming and researching. Check out the quick introduction and tutorial above.
Here’s a tip for iPad users: open the instaGrok website in Safari, and then click the bookmark button right by the URL/address bar. Choose ‘Add to Home Screen’ to make an icon for it that you can organize into a folder with related apps.
